Container Gardening: Container Herb Garden

Container gardening is a great way to grow plants, vegetables and herbs without needing a lot of space. Herbs do especially well and can be grown right outside your kitchen door. In this video, you’ll learn how to use an old farmer’s market basket to make a great container garden. Fill it with your favorite herbs and your cooking will be full of flavor all summer long.

    No, the flavors …
    No, the flavors don’t “cross over” or co-mingle. You can mix & match but be mindful of annuals which may need more watering than some perennials. ~R

    How can I tell if they’re fresh? I got them from Home Depot, they come in the green pack that say organic and at the bottom it says “Guaranteed to grow”. I live in a hot climate it gets about 90 degrees. Is it better to grow them inside under a florescent light?

    Make sure they’re fresh seeds from this year. Cover with about 1/4″ soil - pat it over the seeds, water gently and keep moist. Outside they should sprout in about a week. ~Rita

    Thanks for the note. Most herbs like at least half a day of sun so you may be ok. The flavors may not be as intense as a full day in the sun, but it should work. ~Rita
