A gardener in England was tired of thieves stealing his tools and equipment. So he decided to take care of the problem by installing a 3 foot tall fence around his sacred area. The city didn’t seem to take a liking to his fence and they told the gardener to take the fence down. You see the fence was made of barbed wire and the city was worried that they would be sued if a thief were injured while in the act of stealing. So the city is more concerned abot the rights of the thief than the rights of the home owner and gardener. What next? Thanks for stopping by the GardenToolBlog.

I read about 50 headlines a day about gardening and tools. Most of the time finding new, good information is no problem. Well today it was a problem. All of my sources are being inundated by bad economic news. So I had to go on a search for some useful information.
We all need to do a better job on organizing our tools so that they don’t get ost, “borrowed”, or damaged. This article is about organizing your garage but there may be some useful tips that you can use to organize your garden tools. Good luck and thanks for checking out the GardenToolBlog.

Been reading a lot lately about burglars stealing garden tools. Well you know you can’t stop them if they really want it so what else can you do? Some suggestions may be storing the tools inside, out of sight. Beside your storage building you might want to a HUGE dog bowl with the name KILLER on it. The you put a big steak in the ground beside the bowl and a thick chain attached to the steak. Don’t forget to post signs about your mean dog on the fence near your garden and storage area. One mor ehting you may want to do is to engrave ID numbers in your tools and take pictures of them in case they are stolen, it will make it easier for them to be returned. All in all I just want to buy my garden tools just once and then be able to wear them out. Thanks for stoppoing by GardenToolBlog. Come back soon.

Here in North Texas we don’t have seasons like everyone else does. Our fall finally arrived today. Summer was extended a fews weeks by mother nature. Now the leaves will change but they won’t stay on they trees long. The wind will have them on our lawns before the end of October. It’s getting time to start thinking about storing all your garden tools. How to store them and where to store them so they will be ready for use in early spring. I love winter time and the holiday season. But I also love to be able to pull my tools out when it warms up and use them immediatley. Good maintenance now will give you a stress freee spring time. Thanks for visiting GardenToolBlog. Good luck out there.

You just finished mowing the grass and you step back to take in the awesomeness that is your lawn. It looks like a thick, plush green carpet freshh off the sppol. Flawless! So the work’s over, right? Not so fast sparky. Take a look at your mower. It looks pretty bad, gotta clean it. Question, how? Do you wash it like a car? You can but I have seen the decks of mowers rust through because they were put up dry. Myself, I use compressed air after I put on my goggles. The air method removes the clippings from the mower but doesn’t have the risk of bearing failures or rust through. After you dust off the mower you can get the grass off of yourself. Thanks for stopping by GardenToolBlog. Have a safe weekend.

This question is asked often. We asked the experts. The Cornell University Cooperative Extension says “Mow when your grass is dry and 3 to 3-1/2 inches tall. Never cut it shorter then 2 to 2-1/2 inches or remove more than one third of the leaf surface at any one mowing.” Guess it’s time for me to get out and check my mower height to ensure I fit within those guidelines. Thanks for visiting GardentToolBlog and have a great weekend.

Myself I have a cheap 12.5 hp Murray riding lawn mower I bought from Home Depot. I think I paid around $800 for it. This is my third Murray in 21 years. I have calculated that I spend about $100 a year on my lawn mowers. Many years ago I was going to buy a more expesive Jhn Deere because of the quality. However, it cost $3500. Based on my $100 a year cost I aske if this JD mower would last 35 years. The salesman stated that he doubted it would last that long. Given that information, I went and bought another cheap mower.
I know some of you would have still paid $3500 just because it’s a JD and it’s green and yellow. How do you choose your mower? Thanks for stopping by the garden tool blog.

Ike made it through the DFW area this morning. My area got a lot of wind and less than 1″ of rain. I don’t think we have much if any damage in our area. Houston and Galveston got pounded. I will probably be going down that way to do some repair work in the next few weeks. I went through Hurricane Alicia 25 years ago. Scary stuff.
My next post is one I’ve wanted to discuss for many years. I’ll give you the topic and then finish the post, probably tomorrow. Topic: Buying a riding lawn mower. What do you look for and how much will you pay? Thanks for stopping by.
